The Story
Ali had been through a remodel before, and that experience left her wary of who she trusted with her home. After friends in Westchester raved about McComsey Builders, she came to Bob’s team with a vision for her kitchen: open it up, fill it with light, and design it around the way her family really cooks, hosts, and gathers.

The original kitchen had size on its side and not much else. Here’s what stood between Ali and the home she wanted:
Design
Bob started where every kitchen project at McComsey starts, with a conversation about how Ali and her family live in the space. From there, Kevin sat down with Ali and her designer to optimize a hand-drawn layout from the same cabinetmaker who’d built her friend’s kitchen, refining it for symmetry, storage, and the way Ali cooks and entertains. 3D renderings of the oven configuration and window placement let her see the future kitchen before a single wall came down.
The Details
Now you can imagine standing where Ali stands, looking out over the backyard while you cook, with the view she’d dreamed of for years.
Every dish, pan, and utensil has its own designated spot, with cabinets and drawers planned down to the inch so storage is maxed out and countertops stay clear.
Cooking turned into something Ali looks forward to, especially with a built-in pizza oven everyone rallies around.
Custom cabinetry with an appliance garage, charging drawers, and radiant heated tile floors keeps daily life organized and quietly warm underfoot.
A newly poured foundation and structural steel beam expanded the kitchen without ever leaving the house open to the elements.

The result
It’s such a relief, Ali says, to finally have a kitchen designed around the way her household lives. The dark, builder-grade room is now the bright center of their daily life, the place where she hosted the holidays for the first time. Over dinner, her mom looked around the bright new kitchen and told Ali she’d been right to do the bump-out, that none of this would have been the same in the old space.
